Atlantis Consulting S.A. actively supported the Workshop of the ScienceDIVER project, organized by the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (lead partner), on June 23 and 24, 2022, in Poseidi, Halkidiki, on the topic of Scientific Diving.
The course was entitled "Introduction to Applied Underwater Surveying Methods and Procedures" and included a relevant video of sampling operations in different scientific fields, a lecture with a presentation and a discussion with the students. The presentation was made by Dr. Kimon Papadimitriou of the Department of Agronomists and Topographical Engineers of AUTH and Dr. Themistocles Ioannidis, from the Atlantis team.
The Workshop emphasized the holistic approach to be taken by Scientist Divers and highlighted some key issues such as the importance of accurate sampling location and monitoring. The workshop also showcased the appropriate equipment for many of the sampling tasks and discussed accuracy and existing industry barriers.
The presentation was followed by a fruitful and in-depth discussion among the qualified divers who attended the course. The audience's comments were particularly positive, while the participants' questions showed great interest in the Workshop's theme.
