Project Meeting of ART4SEA project in Palermo

Atlantis Consulting participated, hybridly, in the ART4SEA Project Meeting, that took place in Branciforte Palace in Palermo, Sicily, at December 18-19, 2023.

ART4SEA aims to create a transnational and interdisciplinary cooperation program that involves artists, creative professionals, digital media experts, and marine scientists to co-produce a combination of physical and digital artworks focused on raising public awareness about Ocean Degradation and Climate Change.

The meeting was hosted by the Sebastiano Tusa Foundation, with the presence of all ART4SEA partners, including Vicky Drouga, executive of Atlantis Consulting. The meeting was mainly focused on the results of the Open Call for Artists-in-Residence that ended on November 30, 2023, with 259 applications for the three art categories (Underwater, Physical, and Digital Art) received from 35 different countries. During the meeting, the partners discussed the next steps of the ART4SEA project and especially the coordination of art residency which will take place in the three small Mediterranean islands (Ustica in Italy, Alonissos in Greece, and Gozo in Malta) in the summer of 2024, where the 24 selected artists (8 artists in each island) will produce their artworks. Some of these artworks will be integrated with the marine, natural, and architectural landscapes of the islands, while others will be digital. All the artworks will be digitized in a fully virtual exhibition enjoyable both on the web and the metaverse.

The names of the selected artists will be announced at the end of January 2024.
