On February 21, 2025, an event dedicated to the new serious game CREAMARE: The Game took place at Battlenet Arena Navarinou. The game is being developed within the framework of the European project CREAMARE, which we implement and support. The event aimed to inform the public about the project and the Serious Game testing for the first time.
The event began with a speech by Vicky Drouga from Atlantis Consulting, who presented the objectives of the project, which combines technology with cultural heritage to create a Serious Game. This game encourages users to explore underwater locations, learn about shipwrecks and archaeological sites found at the bottom of the Mediterranean, and understand the threats these monuments face due to human activity and environmental risks. A total of 34 participants, including gamers and streamers, had the opportunity to play the game, collaborating in teams to solve puzzles and implement strategies.
After completing the game testing, participants filled out related questionnaires, contributing to further game improvements. The initial impressions were highly positive, with players praising the realistic depiction of shipwrecks, the high-quality graphics, the immersive atmosphere, and the accurate representation of marine flora and fauna. At the end of the event, all participants received commemorative gifts as a token of appreciation for their contribution to the testing and evaluation process.
Few words about the Serious Game
CREAMARE: The Game is an innovative Serious Game that combines entertainment with education, allowing users not only to have fun but also to learn and raise awareness about the environment and Underwater Cultural Heritage. Players, as divers, explore nine real underwater cultural sites in the Mediterranean Sea. Each location presents its own challenges and puzzles that players must solve while gaining valuable knowledge about the environmental threats endangering these cultural monuments.
The goal of the game is for players to defeat the "monster from the future." The game’s aesthetic blends stylized realism with the vibrant colours of the underwater world, while its sound design creates a truly immersive experience.
The game is available in early access on Steam: https://store.steampowered.com/app/3154190/CREAMARE__The_Game/
