Angelos Manglis, Founder of Atlantis Consulting, participated in International Symposium of Conservation for Underwater Archaeology ISCUA ’23, which was held in Formentera Island at September 28 – October 1. ISCUA ’23 was organised by Balearic Institute of Studies in Maritime Archaeology (IBEAM).
The title of the presentation is: Novel digital approaches to enable virtual accessibility to Underwater Cultural Heritage and the main subject the initiatives and the projects that have been implemented and are also being implemented in order to achieve inclusive accessibility and promotion, protection and preservation of Underwater Cultural Heritage in Mediterranean Sea, and more specifically in Greece, in Northern Sporades. Some of these projects, that were presented, are MeDryDive, CREAMARE, BCThubs etc.
During the speech, i-blueCulture was analytically presented. Between i-blueCulture partners is Skopelos Diving Center, whose Co-Founder is Angelos Manglis. i-blueCulture project is based on the idea of developing a 3D underwater digitization of the marine space for the virtual tour of non-diving citizens. It aims to offer an novel experience of underwater reality to the visitor with the possibility of augmented reality elements within the underwater geolocation, where the user will be able to safely and accurately navigate underwater monuments. The desired result of i-blueCulture is the creation of a real-time “navigation” system which helps the user carry out safe tours and precisely move in virtual underwater landscapes or shipwrecks either in land (eg museum) or in the sea (eg cruise ship above the wreck).
