The 2nd International Conference Dive in Blue Growth is organised in the framework of MeDryDive,an EU project co-financed under the Cosme Programme that is developing various digital content to stimulate the interest in the Mediterranean Underwater Cultural Heritage.
The Conference has the support of the Ephorate of Underwater Antiquities of the Hellenic Ministry of Culture and Sports, the Central Institute for Conservation and Restoration of the Italian Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Activities and Tourism, the University of Calabria and the Region of Thessaly.
Aim & Topics
The 2nd International Conference Dive in Blue Growth focuses on raising public awareness on the value of Underwater Cultural Heritage and the enhancement of responsible accessibility for both divers and non-divers. The Conference draws attention to the operation of Accessible Underwater Cultural Heritage Sites (AUCHS) and their promotion as a means for their sustainable protection. The goal is to highlight the proposed solutions and current approaches that contribute to both the protection of the underwater cultural assets and the sustainable blue growth in the area.
The Conference aims to present the latest advancements in innovative technologies and the best
practices for the promotion of the Accessible Underwater Cultural Heritage Sites (AUCHS) and
examines the response of both the diving community and the general public to such initiatives. Focus is on physical and virtual accessibility at the sites as an upgraded experience with contextual information. Policy recommendations and management strategies in terms of sustainable operation of the sites and blue growth are also among the topics.
The first International Conference “Dive in Blue Growth” was held in October 2019 in the framework of the BLUEMED Interreg MED 2014-2020 project under the Auspices of the President of the Hellenic Republic. Following the great impact of the first edition, the 2nd International Conference brings together researchers, competent authorities and stakeholders who wish to exchange experiences about on-going projects, present the results of relevant case studies or make proposals for future strategies or interventions.
