During the European Maritime Day (EMD) event held in Lisbon, Portugal on the 16th and 17th of May 2019, BLUEMED was presented and promoted together with other projects and organizations: EASME, Interreg 2 Seas, Interreg ADRION, Cherish Interreg Europe, Interreg North Sea, Interact, European Commission – DG MARE, ESPON EGTC, Organization of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation (BSEC), EMODnet, BALTIC SEA & SPACE CLUSTER, IOC – UNESCO, ARCO LATINO, Fórum Oceano, Greek Ministry of Rural Development & Food, HCMR, etc.
BLUEMED was represented by ATLANTIS and University of Patras. BLUEMED had a dedicated stand in the exhibition floor, hosting a Head Mounted Display (HMD) system (courtesy of 3DR SRL), allowing users to live a virtual diving experience in the “Punta Scifo D” shipwreck of Italy. The stand was equipped with a 43’ Full HD Screen, playing videos of BLUEMED project and with printed BLUEMED promotional material (2m x 2m panel, flyers and brochures). The stand also hosted 3D printed models of two wrecks (the wreck of Punta Scifo D in Calabria, Italy, the contemporary shipwreck of “Vera” in Skopelos island, Greece).
During the event, the BLUEMED stand had increased attendance and received positive feedback from the visitors. People of all ages enjoyed the “virtual dive” with most of them returning to the stand for more “diving” experiences.
Throughout the event, BLUEMED project was promoted to a big audience of diverse disciplines from scientists and policy makers to maritime business representatives, general public etc., broadening its dissemination goals and achievements.
