A 3-day virtual conference was held on 12-14 of May 2021 in the framework of the MeDryDive project. The 2nd Virtual International Conference draw the attention to the operation of Accessible Underwater Cultural Heritage Sites (AUCHS) and their promotion as a means for their protection and was held under the Auspices of the Hellenic Ministry of Culture & Sports with the title “Dive in Blue Growth”.
The 2nd International Conference “Dive in Blue Growth” focused on the following topics:
- Technologies and approaches for the in-situ promotion of Accessible Underwater Cultural Heritage Sites.
- Dry dive technologies to make the Underwater Cultural Heritage accessible to all.
- Case studies of promotion and protection of Accessible Underwater Cultural Heritage Sites.
- The response of the public to the promotion of the Accessible Underwater Cultural Heritage Sites through the application of new technologies.
In the opening statements representatives of the relevant Ministries of Greece and Italy extended their welcome and the conference continued with 44 speakers from different countries in the Mediterranean, across and beyond Europe including researchers, universities, competent authorities and management bodies of AUCHS and relevant stakeholders. Atlantis Consulting S.A, as the project partner of MeDryDive, presented 2 proposals on the first and third day.
Mr Angelos Manglis, VP of Atlantis Consulting S. A, made a presentation with title “A Roadmap for the sustainable valorization of Accessible Underwater Cultural Heritage; Integration of BLUEMED model for Open and Accessible to all sites”.
Ms Paschalina Giatsiatsou, Maritime Archaeologist in Atlantis Consulting S.A presented a paper under the title “Implementing multi-criteria analysis in the selection of AUCHS for the integration of digital technologies into the tourism offering; the case of Me Dry Dive “. Me Dry Dive “
The conference had over 700 subscriptions with over 16,000 views creating significant impact to the international community related to the Underwater Cultural Heritage.
