Brite Press Release

Thessaloniki, 29-04-2024

With the co-financing of Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway through the EEA Grants (EEA Financial Mechanism 2014-2021) and in the framework of the project "Development of the world's first commercially viable solar panel based on Perovskite technology" with code 2022/348126, Brite Hellas A.E. managed to construct a perovskite solar unit based on the carbon electrode with dimensions of 2.500 cm2 and an efficiency of 15%. This construction is a significant achievement by international standards, taking into account the size, performance and architecture of the device, as well as the conditions of its development (purely environmental conditions). The first feasibility studies on manufacturing costs reveal the competitiveness of the features achieved by this technology even compared to conventional crystalline silicon panels. The results of the evaluation of the proposed technology in accelerated aging experiments are also important. According to the international standards applied to corresponding technologies (International Summit on Organic Photovoltaic Stability, ISOS protocols), the proposed photovoltaics seem to maintain their high performance after thousands of hours of accelerated aging in extreme operating conditions. An additional important technological achievement of the team in the context of the project concerns the development of lower toxicity, high efficiency and stability of printable perovskite precursor solutions for their application with ink-jet-printing. In particular, the proposed inks relate to compositions with 2 times less heavy metal content, as well as completely friendly solvents for humans and the environment, without limitations on their performance and stability (lifetime of solutions >3 months), characteristics that are a basic prerequisite for industrial production of perovskite technology panels. For all technologies and innovations developed within the project, Brite has applied for patents in EU, USA, Netherlands and China.

A few words about the company: Brite Hellas SA. based in Thessaloniki, is a pioneering company, globally, in the development and deposition of nanomaterials on glass. Brite's technology is covered by international patents and has extremely interesting industrial applications, such as agro-photovoltaic panels and "smart" glass to save energy in buildings. The €8.6 million Series A financing of Brite's investment program for the production of semi-transparent photovoltaic panels for agricultural applications, to be produced at its facilities, in VI.PE, has been successfully closed. of Patras, with New Energy Partners as lead investor. Also participating were the European Innovation Council (EIC), Brace 4 Impact, and Deep Capital Group.
