The third consortium meeting of the EU-funded project SUNBIO, which we actively implement and support, took place on May 8–9, 2025. The meeting was hosted by Engitec Systems International Ltd. (ESI) at the Mediterranean Beach Hotel in Limassol, Cyprus, bringing together representatives from all partner organizations to plan the project’s next steps and activities. The meeting focused on reviewing the progress made during the project’s first year of implementation.
SUNBIO is funded under the Horizon Europe (HORIZON) programme and aims to become the first offshore renewable energy solution in the world to have a significantly positive impact on the marine environment. The SUNBIO system, once fully operational and continuously optimized, is expected to generate a strong positive environmental footprint. Additionally, it will be easily deployable, greatly shortening the path from lab to market.
The total budget of the project is €1,869,000, with a duration of 36 months, and it involves 7 partners from countries including Spain, Greece, the United Kingdom, and Cyprus.
